Is Computer Imaging for Rhinoplasty Different to Photoshop?
Using Photoshop and other photo editing programs to envision how imaginary changes to the face can look like have been all the rage in recent years, especially when it's as easy as installing an app on your mobile phone and making a few taps on a photo. This, however, will never compare to the use of computer imaging technology when seriously considering rhinoplasty surgery. In the above video, Board Certified rhinoplasty specialist Dr. Buonassisi talks about the use of computer imaging in the surgical consultation process and how it differs from using Photoshop to visualize how surgical changes to the nose can look.
Bottom line, doing some self-Photoshop on your photos is not a recommended way to guide you on how you want your nose done in a rhinoplasty, as it is easy to create expected results that actually aren't possible with surgery. With surgical computer imaging done by your plastic surgeon on consultation day, you will get a much more realistic and honest view on the results you can expect from rhinoplasty.
