Will I Have to Remove My Artificial Nails for My Rhinoplasty Surgery
Here are your nail and nail polish guidelines:
- In general, it is best to come to your surgery without nail polish and artificial nails (fingers and toes) - so if you don't have them now, don't go get them the day before your surgery
- If you already have painted or artificial nails, please make sure you have at least one artificial nail removed.
Please note - every surgery center has different requirements when it comes to artificial nails and nail polish. Please check the pre and post operative instructions that were provided by your surgeon's patient care manager. These guidelines apply to Dr. Buonassisi's patients.

About Dr. Buonassisi
Entrusting a surgeon with a central feature of your face like your nose requires a great deal of understanding of their credentials, experience, and results of procedures they've performed in the past. As such, patients are encouraged to seek out experienced surgeons who have performed many cosmetic rhinoplasties over a long career. One of Canada's top dual board-certified cosmetic facial surgeons, Dr. Thomas Buonassisi leads the team at 8 West Cosmetic Surgery & Skin Clinic and carries extensive experience, having performed thousands of cosmetic nasal surgeries for over 20 years.
Types of Rhinoplasty Procedures Offered at 8 West Clinic
Hump Reduction Rhinoplasty: Resizing the bump on the bridge of the nose is one of the most common reasons that people pursue Rhinoplasty. As the name suggests, this surgery works by reducing and resizing the dorsal hump of your nose, to soften and balance the nose.
Tip Refinement and Rotation Rhinoplasty: For patients seeking to reduce the size of the nose, remove a hump, refine or rotate the tip of the nose. From tilting the tip up, to narrowing a larger tip; tip refinement is often combined with other Rhinoplasty procedures, such as hump reduction or correcting a crooked nose, for the most striking, natural-looking results.
Alar Base Reduction: Alar base reduction refers to reducing the width of the alar, or base, of the nose. It is often, but not always, combined with augmentation Rhinoplasty. A small incision is placed at the base of each nostril, and a wedge of tissue is excised so that the nose appears smaller and more narrow.
