Other common questions about prescriptions
Where do I get my prescriptions?
We will forward your prescriptions to the pharmacy of your choice or help you find a pharmacy in your community. The details of how you would like to receive your prescriptions will be discussed with you as part of the pre surgery checklist that your patient care manager will complete with you.
When should I fill my prescription?
As part of the check list we provide you it is best to pick up your prescription 1 - 2 weeks prior to surgery day. You won't start taking the prescriptions until after your surgery, however it is nice to have them on hand in advance so that you have time to review the instructions.
Do I need to take anything with me when I pick up my prescriptions?
The pharmacy may require your provincial health card and one additional piece of ID.
Do I need to pay for the prescription?
The prescriptions are inexpensive and you will pay for them unless you have a health plan or extended benefits.
Do I bring the prescription to the surgery centre?
No unless you are requested otherwise.
