Key Considerations for Indian Rhinoplasty Patients
A down turning nasal tip (also called tip ptosis) often distinguishes the Indian nose. This is due to large downward turning, very soft and flexible nasal tip cartilages, which can often droop even further with smiling. When the tip droops it gives the appearance of an overly long nose. This can accentuate an existing nasal ''hump'' or even create the appearance of a hump when smiling.
I take special care with my Indian patients to explain how the tip must be supported to maintain good nasal function and refine the overall shape of the nose. Reshaping the Indian nose can often make a dramatic change to the patient's overall appearance. As a result, it is very important for me to perform computer imaging to allow my patients to see the overall effect on the facial features prior to deciding on surgery. Patients request changes to their nose for a variety of reasons.
